SUMMER CAMP 2008

Get ready for another great summer with us in one of our camp programs!  It’s a wonderful time for children to make new friends, learn gymnastics and many other sports, and have some plain old-fashioned fun!

Marie-Louise (“Mel”) McKeon will return as our Camp Director. She has many exciting new ideas for this summer!  There are two separate camp programs:  Gymnastics Camp and Sports Camp.  Both camps are for children ages 5 through 16.  (Children must be 5 on or before December 31, 2007 – no exceptions.)  We offer a 6-hour  program (9:30 -3:30), which includes gymnastics and sports in the morning and afternoon.  Campers are grouped by age and/or ability.  (Please indicate on the registration form if your child has a friend with whom he or she would like to be grouped.)   Both summer camps will run from Monday, June 30, through Friday, August 29, 2008.  You may sign your child up for one week, all nine, or any combination of weeks that suits you.

In Gymnastics Camp, each day will have exciting gymnastic rotations which include all Olympic events, in addition to trampoline, Tumbl Trak and several foam pits.  In Sports Camp, each day will center around learning and playing different sports which include  baseball, flag football, floor hockey, soccer, track & field, volleyball, basketball, and, of course, gymnastics.  All campers will enjoy arts & crafts, tie-dye, cooking fun and outdoor play in the sprinklers.  Each Friday, all campers finish the week with a special “Friday Fun” activity together.  These activities will all follow our weekly themes and in the past have included a “Miss America” contest, karaoke, an Olympic challenge and treasure hunts.  All activities are led by our full-time, safety-certified gymnastics instructors and summer camp staff, including a Boys’ and Girls’ Team coach.

Campers are expected to bring in lunch from home.  Please pack healthy lunches, and a morning snack.  We are a “peanut-free zone,” so we ask that you do not send any foods that contain nuts or nut oils.  Wednesday is Pizza Day!   We provide pizza, apple juice and an ice pop for dessert.  If your child does not eat pizza, please send lunch for him or her on Wednesdays as well.

Wednesday is also Tie-Dye Day!  We will provide a World Cup Gymnastics t-shirt for your child to tie-dye each week he or she attends camp.  The tie-dye colors change from week to week to coordinate with our weekly themes.  If your child comes for several weeks, you may choose to have him or her tie-dye a shirt in an adult size for you to wear, if you like.  Don’t forget to indicate the appropriate t-shirt size on the registration form.

T-shirt sizes may not be changed once camp starts as the proper amounts will be ordered in each size before the start of camp.
